The Scottish post-britpop giants flew across the sea to Chicago and played a one-night-only show at the Vic Theater. Three hours before the show, they did a free acoustic performance at Reckless Records on Broadway.
The record store was not fully-packed which was perfect for a small acoustic performance. Everybody could hear the beautiful voice of Fran Healy and the fine tunes from Dougie and Andy’s guitars.
Travis played 6 songs in total (which is longer than 1/3 length of a normal gig!), three new three old. Not many of the audience were hardcore fans as I could tell. Not many sang along throughout the performance but at least I heard positive feedback from people around.
I talked to Fran after the show and he said they were planning for a world tour in two years and hong Kong is a possible stop as they knew there was a huge fan base here. It looks like the possibility is quite high as their last show in town was 7 years ago so it makes sense to have another concert here.
One funny thing is – I were being asked a question by a woman behind me “Where are they from?” – Well, THEY ARE TRAVIS FROM SCOTLAND AND THEIR MUSIC HAS MELTED THE HEARTS ACROSS THE SEA.
