Hailing from Leicester, England, Kasabian quickly run to the top of the British rock scene in 10 years. Their sound has changed over the years from sharp indie rock to recent edgy electronic rock; however, the britpop sensitivity is still deeply carved in their bones. The band has covered all the essential hits in the 70-minute concert  — first album’s Club Foot and L.S.F., West Ryder’s massive hit Fire and Underdog, latest release 48:13’s Eez-eh, etc. There’s no less known songs, only the celebrated ones!

Kicking off with new song Bumblebeee, the single they are promoting at the time, Kasabian immediately bring the atmosphere up high as the ceiling. The “(everybody goes) yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah…” intro (and chorus) is a natural fire starter. It’s so catchy and simple that everyone can’t help to sing and shake along. The consistent drum beats also contribute to the gas tank to get everyone moving!

Resting is not required between songs. The quartet carry the heat straight to Shoot The Runner, triumphant anthems Underdog, Days Are Forgotten and new electronica Stevie and Eez-eh. New releases are strategically fitted into the familiar tunes perfectly without awkward transition in between.

Kasabian always appears to be frontman Tom Meighan and guitarist / primary composer Sergio Pizzorno’s solo project. Not only they are frequently featured on magazine cover and conduct interviews on behalf of the whole group, Meighan and Pizzorno truly outshine other members in live performance. Having said that, the rest of Kasabian seem to be comfortable at where they are.

Meighan has covered himself with sunglasses for most of the time so he rarely makes eye contact with his fans in this relatively intimate show. His best partner Pizzorno, on the other hand, has played a jolly active role to cheer his fans up. He has been bouncing up and down throughout the show, with his fox tail accessory on his pants swinging vigorously.

Though not everyone, especially the old Kasabian fan base, favor the band’s latest album 48:13 because of its electronic element, we guarantee the sonic power it amplifies in live show will change your mind. The sound will bring up your desire to dance inadvertently. For sure, it’s not for all Brit pop / alternative rock fans, but you’ll appreciate its freedom spirit if you like funky upbeat rock tunes. This short gig has undoubtedly reached the boiling point for most audience, not only the young generation, but surprisingly the older fans, who told me they grew up with Stone Roses and The Smiths, too.
